About Marc Hoover

Marc Hoover

My racing career spans more than two decades. In 1985, I joined the SCCA SFR and competed in the Improved Touring B regional championship. I also won my 1st of several Marty Illgen 4 hour enduros, the most recent in 2009. In my second season of racing, I won my 1st championship, with a string of pole positions and additional wins. Following that, I ran a limited schedule in Imsa’s Firestone Firehawk, then drove open wheel racing in an old Gurney Eagle Formula Ford. I decided to compete in SCCA National Racing in 1990 and converted my Eagle to a DSports Racer with a Mazda GLC Engine. From 1991 through 2004, I campaigned a Mazda-powered D Sports racer in the SCCA National Competition. I garnered many wins and track records along the way. I earned multiple Division Championships, a Pacific Coast Road Racing Championship, and Mazda’s only DSports Racing National Championship… all accomplished in cars that I built with Mazda racing engines developed from Mazda street car engines. In 2005 I started racing Miatas, successfully winning many races while setting track records, caring for customers’ race cars on my race weekends, all culminating in an SCCA SFR ITA Championship in 2009, a 2010 Division title in STU in SCCA, as well as a NASA PTD National Championship.
